Other than your in-room kitchen facilities, we took the decision not to provide catering on site because Histon and Impington offer a delightful range of cafés, restaurants, pubs and takeaways within immediate walking distance.

Slightly further afield, Oakington and Girton are around a two-mile walk away across the fields and are well worth exploring.

These are our personal recommendations and we hope you will enjoy them as the extended dining room at The Fold:

The King William IV Pub, Histon

The King William IV Pub

Approx. 3 minute walk
Known locally as the King Bill, this is the closest pub to The Fold. It does not have its own kitchen, but regularly hosts food trucks, often including pizza, burgers and other street-food options - our favourite is Buffalo Joes.

Stir Café and Bakery, Histon

Approx. 5 minute walk
A popular neighbourhood artisan café and bakery serving coffee, freshly baked goods, seasonal brunches and takeaway lunches. Particularly good for breakfast, pastries and relaxed daytime eating.

St Andrew’s Café, Histon

Approx. 5 minute walk
A friendly, community café run by the local parish church, serving traditional café food, drinks and cakes. A relaxed and good-value option for breakfast, lunch or coffee.

The Indian Ocean, Histon

An award-winning Indian restaurant on the High Street, serving home-style Indian food for dining in or takeaway. A strong local option for dinner.

The Red Lion

Home to Histon Beer Festival every September, the Red Lion is a lively and extremely popular local pub in the high street. With a large rear garden, many real ales on tap and a varied food menu across breakfast, lunch and dinner this is a solid choice. Check out quiz nights every Tuesday and regular bands.

A characterful village pub and upscale restaurant overlooking the green, with seasonal food, a garden, terrace, bar and dining areas. A good choice for lunch or dinner; booking is recommended at busy times.

A café, bar and restaurant on the village green, with a menu inspired by south East Asian cuisine and a recently refreshed interior. Good deals on happy hour cocktails and food for lunch or dinner.

A local takeaway offering fish and chips as well as Chinese takeaway options. It can be busy on Friday and Saturday evenings, so phoning ahead is sensible.

The village is spoilt for choice for local pubs, this one is run by the local Milton Brewery featuring their own brews plus additional guests beers in traditional surroundings. Very good food trucks are in the car park at weekends - be sure to get there early or book in advance.

A brunch, breakfast, coffee and cake spot in the renovated Histon Station building by the guided busway. A little further away, but a good daytime walk or cycle option.

The Old Crown, Girton

The largest thatched village pub in the country serving authentic Nepalese dishes alongside British pub classics. A distinctive option if you want something a little different.

The White Horse, Oakington

Approx. 2 miles, mainly traffic free walk/cycle along busway track
A traditional village pub serving British pub meals, including excellent and very good value Sunday roast options. Worth considering if you fancy a longer walk across the fields or a short drive.
