Where do we park?

Each suite has its own dedicated space in the old cart lodge, and every space has an EV charger — so you can arrive, plug in, and forget about it for the rest of your stay.

Question 3

Can you arrange a taxi from the station or airport?

Accepted Answer

For most journeys we'd suggest Uber or a similar app, which tend to be quickest and easiest around Cambridge. If you'd prefer a pre-booked taxi, just get in touch before you arrive and we'll arrange one for you.

Question 4

Can we drop bags off early or leave them after check-out?

Yes, by prior arrangement — drop us a message ahead of time and we'll sort it.

Question 5

Check-in / Check-out

Accepted Answer

Our normal check-in time is after 3pm and check-out is by 11am. It may occasionally be possible to provide an earlier check-in or later check-out, so if you have any specific needs in this regard, please contact us in advance of your arrival. We will accommodate this where we can.

Children

We operate an adult-only policy, the main purpose of which is to ensure we can provide a quiet and relaxing environment for all guests.

Dogs

Sadly, we cannot accept dogs. We have had several problems with dogs causing issues for the animals that live here, so we have taken the difficult decision to put the wildlife first and not allow dogs on the estate. We apologise, as we know this will cause disappointment.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes — a stay at The Fold makes a lovely gift. Just get in touch and we'll arrange one for you.

Question 9

Can we have visitors during our stay?

Accepted Answer

When you're booking a single suite, we don't allow additional visitors — this helps us keep a quiet and private atmosphere for everyone else on site. If you've booked the whole estate under Exclusive Use, you're welcome to have guests visit, with up to eight people sleeping over.

Do you host weddings, private events or photoshoots?

Yes — under [Exclusive Use](/exclusive-use) we can accommodate all sorts of gatherings. Get in touch and tell us what you have in mind.

Question 11

Do you allow smoking or vaping?

Accepted Answer

No smoking or vaping inside the suites, please, and not in the courtyard either so other guests aren't disturbed. You're very welcome to smoke while walking the grounds — just be mindful to dispose of cigarette ends responsibly and not litter.

Can we cook a full meal in the kitchen?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The oven is both a conventional oven and microwave. The hob has two rings, and we provide a frying pan and two saucepans. There are also earthenware dishes, a baking sheet and a roasting pan. A Christmas dinner might be a stretch, but for most everyday meals for two it should work very well.

How good is the Wi-Fi?

Our internet service is provided by Starlink and has historically given us reliable and fast connections. Each room is given dedicated speeds of around 50–75 Mbps, which should be more than adequate for most normal usage. We recommend, however, that you put devices away and enjoy the surroundings.

Yes — every suite has air conditioning.

Is there daily housekeeping?

We don't offer daily housekeeping — we find most guests prefer the privacy. For longer stays we're happy to arrange a mid-stay service; just ask.

Yes, we provide the basics in every suite.

Can you cater for allergies or dietary needs?

Just let us know when you book. We sometimes leave a small check-in welcome snack in your suite, and we'll happily customise it around any allergies or preferences.

Are there quiet hours?

We keep to standard quiet hours so that everyone can enjoy a peaceful night's sleep.

Is breakfast included?

There's no formal breakfast service, but if the chickens are cooperating we'll often leave a few fresh eggs in your suite for your arrival.

Can we have groceries delivered before or during our stay?

Accepted Answer

Yes — most of the supermarkets deliver to us. Just let us know when to expect a delivery and we'll accept it into your suite. We won't unpack it for you, but it'll be waiting when you arrive.

Wheelchair Access

Accepted Answer

Most of the rooms have steps up from the courtyard onto the terrace and into the rooms. This makes access by wheelchair rather difficult, as does the main gravel parking area. However, The Old Workshop has its own parking space off the driveway, with smooth and level private access onto the terrace and into the room — fully step-free throughout.

Access to Medical Services

Cambridge is fortunate to be well served with hospital and other medical services. In each suite there is an information book providing all the details you should need. There is also a first aid kit provided.

If you are visiting for a special occasion, or just want to enhance your stay with something personal, we are very pleased to help. Get in touch before you arrive — flowers, champagne, a cake, or something a little more imaginative — and we'll do all we can to create that memorable moment.
